MANCUNIANS and WIGAN RIVERSIDERS EELS shared the spoils after a 16-all draw.
The hosts made a great start, Mark Davies forcing the ball free in the tackle with a big hit and, from the resulting scrum, Mancunians managed to stretch the line enough for Neil Shackcloth to pick his way through to touch down.
Instead of settling into a steady pattern, a crucial mistake from the home side when the ball went to ground allowed the Riversiders to crash over to equal the scores.
Mancunians took advantage of a series of with newcomer Jack Snoddy catching the eye once again with his great footwork and dazzling pace.
Tom Gaughan edged Mancunians back in front, combining with half backs Shackcloth and Mike Webster to step round a defender.
Riversiders spurned a try when they had already crossed the line and a game saving tackle on a breakaway attacker moments later by Matt Wade kept Mancunians in the game.
Shackcloth then showed his prowess at the other end, a sublime dummy on his own 40 metre line saw the field open up in front of him and he cantered clear to give Mancunians the lead with only six minutes remaining.
The home side attempted to add an extra point with a drop goal from immediately in front of the posts, but Riversiders hit back with a try out wide to level the scores in the final minute.

SUSSEX MERLINS showed their Jekyll and Hyde characteristics as they crashed to inform GUILDFORD GIANTS, 58-10.
Last week Merlins enjoyed a 40-point romp over Oxford.

Even the introduction of former Oldham and London Crusaders professional Jericho Sunfire could not spark the Hove club.
Merlins kept it tight for the opening 15 minutes before Giants struck first with centre Tom Rankin crossing.
From the restart, second rower Sam Fletcher doubled the advantage but Merlins hit back when prop Josh Gunn crashed over between the sticks.
Guildford took in a 24-10 advantage at half-time and Merlins Coach James Szymik said: "At half-time we talked about how we could get back into the game by doing the things that had worked so well for us all season.
“We were getting hammered by their line speed and by attacking back in behind the ruck.”
Unfortunately we just weren’t at the races today, maybe in the knowledge that we couldn’t make the play offs, a target we set at the beginning of the season. I think the second half reflected that."
Guildford ran in 34 unanswered points after the break to seal a comprehensive victory.
